Time to Fall Back: What Will You Do with Your Extra Hour?

One of my favourite days of the year is when we get to set the clocks back an hour. In fact, I usually don’t set the clocks back until later in the day so I can have that lovely feeling of gaining an hour. It’s kind of nice to be in the middle of a task, see the time as being noon and having the realization: “Oh, it’s only 11! My morning isn’t over yet!” This year, I’ve been so busy with work (which is a good thing) that I’ll be spending my extra hour sneaking in work. What will you do with your extra hour?

Sleep? Who couldn’t use an extra hour of sleep? The trick is to reset your body clock. You may naturally wake at your normal time, say 7 a.m., realize it’s only 6 a.m. and not be able to fall back asleep. OR, you could reset your clocks the night before, draw the curtains tight and wear a comfy eye shade and a pair of earplugs to drown out the morning birds. By doing this, you can fool your body clock into thinking it’s earlier than it really is. You can use Alpine SleepSoft earplugs to block outside noises while still hearing the phone ring. If you need some heavy duty earplugs to block your mate’s horrid snoring, try Heartech SilentEar earplugs.

Could you use a little relaxation or “me” time? Take a bubble bath and some classy Audrey Hepburn style JenGen blue tassel earplugs to make it a quiet experience. If you enjoy music while taking a bath, you could listen to your iPod with custom earphones to bring studio quality music to your ears while you relax. Don’t forget the glass of wine and candles!

Perhaps you’d like to spend your extra hour on your hobby. You know, the one that’s always at the bottom of your priority list. Grab your shooter’s earplugs and go to the range. Dust off the titanium golf clubs and play a round. Or maybe you’d like to take a Sunday drive in the country on your motorcycle or in your convertible.

Hmmm. Suddenly, I’m thinking my original plan to work my extra hour sounds a bit dull. Perhaps I’ll follow my own advice and find something better to do. The bubble bath, glass of wine and silence is sounding lovely right now!

Enjoy your extra hour!

Cheers for now!
